Students are introduced to computer science concepts (programming, web design, robotics, research) and use them to conduct research on food and drink practices in their community.

ecs students

In this course, students use a wide range of computer science tools (web design, programming, robotics, and research) to explore the ways in which computer science can be used responsibly and creatively. Students are exposed to methods including problem-solving, design, connection to other disciples, team building, and critical thinking about the relevance and impact that computer science has on society.

In Spring 2010, the students in this class conducted a research project in which they used mobile phones to collect, analyze, and interpret data on food and drink practices in the community. They then used technological tools to present their findings to the larger community at the Healthy Start Fair and other venues.

Students used this document to develop data analysis questions.
