Kim Adsit make and take workshop
At the Kindergarten Conference we attended a make and take session presented by Kim Adsit. In the Language Arts portion of the session, we were presented with a variety of activities to support the upcoming common core standards. We made posters that promote literacy skills through play, centers, and engaging activities. Check out some of the activities from this session. You can purchase the following lessons and many more units by Kim Adsit.
This 5 Little Speckled Frogs song chart promotes reading skills and subtraction skills. The kids love it too!
Another Kim Adsit game that gets kids moving and helps them learn sight words.
The following pictures are just a few activities from Kim Adsit's Frog and Butterfly, activities for math and literacy unit.
This poster is a fun and interactive way to promote number sense.
TLC Workshop
We attended a workshop presented by Kaye Espinosa at TLC lessons. IN TLC art lessons, kids create construction paper collages. There are a variety of different units to choose from including nursery rhymes, farm, community, weather, and much more! The activities presented integrate Art with Language Arts, Science, and Social studies.
Here are a few examples from the Insect Unit.
You can also purchase TLC lessons.
Reading groups for Kindergarten workshop
The last workshop we attend was a session about guided reading in Kindergarten presented by Gloria Ramos Gonzalez. It taught us ways to group kids and manage reading groups in a Kindergarten classroom. Here are some photos of students engaging in guided reading groups.
You can also purchase a good resource to get you started with guided reading groups.
SmartBoard
A SmartBoard in Kindergarten? Absolutely a great way to engage students in lessons for all subject areas. The children get to come up during whole group lessons and interact with the board. All kids are engaged and listening attentively during SmartBoard lessons.
