The Teachers College Reading and Writing Project is a research and staff development organization housed at Teachers College, Columbia University. The teacher-educators who staff the Project are involved in long-lasting collaborations with teachers across the world. The Project has a lasting and deep affiliation with over six hundred schools and develops ideas that are foundational to literacy instruction across the globe. The Reading and Writing Project Institute featured keynote addresses by celebrated authors, world renowned teacher-educators, and other all-stars in the field of literacy and learning. Institutes included small and large group sections that are designed to help teachers, coaches and administrators establish vibrant, rigorous models of best practices.

CGI (Cognitive Guided Instruction) - Los Angeles, CA

Cognitively Guided Instruction (also referred to as CGI math) is an approach to teaching mathematics that uses a student's own mathematical thinking as the basis for instruction. The method is the result of research conducted by Elizabeth Fennema and Thomas P. Carpenter from the University of Wisconsin - Madison in the late 80s and early 90s. Cognitively Guided Instruction (CGI), based on over 20 years of research, has helped teachers to map out how basic number concepts and skills develop in the early grades. CGI helps teachers understand how children's mathematical ideas develop and provides students an opportunity to build on their own thinking.

The Occidental College Foreign Language Project offers an articulated sequence of intensive professional development programs designed to develop teacher leaders of world languages and cultures. "Programs in Using the ELD Standards as a Road-map to Academic Success" began with a study of the English Language Development Standards in correlation with the English Language Arts Standards. Educators engaged in conversations about creative and inclusive strategies to develop the academic literacy of all students, SDAIE strategies, collaborative learning and diversified instructional strategies, and techniques to address multiple intelligences within the framework of thematic units.
