UCLA TIIP Funded Activities
As a part of our participation in the TIIP program, we attended a variety of professional conferences and trainings.
Daily Five/ CAFE
Jessica and Maria team attended the Daily Five as well as the CAFE conference during the Summer of 201, in Wrentham, MA. All team members will be attending local Daily Five and CAFE workshops in October 2013, in Los Angeles, CA.

New York Teachers College- Writer's Workshop Institute
Al attended the Teacher's College Reading and Writing Project in the Summer of 2011, in New York City.
2012 ASCD Summer Conference
Jessica and Maria attended the 2012 ASCD Summer Conference on Revolutionizing The Way We Teach and Learn in St. Louis, Missouri.

Data Analysis Workshop
Jessica attended a Data Driven Workshop during the Summer of 2011 in Somerset, NJ to learn about data analysis. She learned the importance of gathering and analyzing student data to plan classroom instruction that meets students' academic needs.
Writing Institute with Growing Educators
During the Summer of 2011 Jessica and Maria attended the First Writing Institute with Growing Educators in Redondo Beach, California. In this institute, team members learned about Writer's Workshop.
During the Summer of 2013 Maria attended the Third Writing Institute with Growing Educators in Redondo Beach, California. In this institute, she attended the advanced section and learned about persuasive writing techniques for upper grade students.
Nancy Fetzer's Reading and Writing Institute
During the Summer of 2012 Jessica and Maria attended Nancy Fetzer's Writing Institute and in the Fall of 2012 they attended her Reading Institute.
International Reading Association (IRA)
During the Spring of 2013 Jessica and Maria attended the International Reading Association (IRA) Conference (Genre Studies, Language Experience Approach (LEA), Public Writing Workshop Conferences, Word Study, Fluency and Comprehension, Latest Research on Improving Literacy Instruction).
