Presentation: At the Intersection of Project-Based Learning and Standards-Based Alignment, Part 1
Part 1 of this presentation asks you to think about your school's current approaches re: PBLs and standards-based alignment. It also gives a brief introduction to our school's demographics to provide context for our approach on PBLs/standards-based alignement. Our team delivered this presentation at the February 2012 California Charter Schools Association conference and at the 2012 Annual UCLA TIIP Conference.
Presentation: At the Intersection of Project-Based Learning and Standards-Based Instruction, Part 2
Part 2 of this presentation discusses the need for standards-based alignment, which can be easily overlooked in implementing PBLs. We also address challenges of making the inquiry/discovery process authentic and effective for student learning by distinguishing between assisted vs. enhanced learning. And sometimes, direct instruction will be a teacher's best approach. Our team delivered this presentation at the February 2012 California Charter Schools Association conference and at the 2012 Annual UCLA TIIP Conference.
